# Install on Windows

> Install the Facebetter OBS plugin on Windows.

Facebetter is a realtime beauty filter for OBS Studio. Skin, face shape, makeup, color filters, stickers, body, and background are processed on this computer.

It does not affect the whole OBS window by itself. Add **Facebetter Beauty** to the source you want, and the sliders in the side panel start working. A camera, image, or video source all work. Mac install steps are in [Install on Mac](/obs/install). After install, sign-in and adjustments are the same on both systems: [Sign in and add the filter](/obs/login).

Before you start:

* Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit.
* OBS Studio 28 or later, 64-bit.

## Quit OBS and unzip

Quit OBS completely first. If OBS is running while you copy the plugin, that session will not load it.

Download the Windows zip and unzip it. Inside is the whole `obs-facebetter` folder, plus short guides in Chinese and English. Copy that folder. Do not pull out a single DLL on its own.

## Copy it into the OBS plugin folder

Copy the entire `obs-facebetter` folder to:

```text theme={null}
C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\
```

When the copy finishes, the plugin folder is:

```text theme={null}
C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\obs-facebetter\
```

`ProgramData` is hidden by default. In File Explorer, open View → Show → Hidden items. If Windows asks for permission while copying, allow it.

This is the shared plugin folder on this PC. OBS loads plugins from here. Do not put the folder in `%APPDATA%\obs-studio\`. That location holds scenes and logs, not plugins.

Both of these files must be present, with these names:

```text theme={null}
C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\obs-facebetter\bin\64bit\obs-facebetter.dll
C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\obs-facebetter\bin\64bit\facebetter.dll
```

Keep the `data` folder next to `bin`. It holds locales and resources.

Open OBS, then [sign in and add the filter](/obs/login).
