# FAQ

> What to do on a Mac when the Facebetter OBS plugin is missing, sliders will not move, or the preview does not change.

## Facebetter is missing from the panel and from the filter list

Quit OBS completely and open it again. Then check that the plugin is here:

```text theme={null}
~/Library/Application Support/obs-studio/plugins/facebetter.plugin
```

An Intel Mac needs the Intel build of OBS. Apple silicon needs the Apple silicon build. OBS will not load the plugin if those do not match. See [Install on Mac](/obs/install).

## macOS says the plugin is damaged

Open Terminal, paste this line, press Return, and open OBS again:

```bash theme={null}
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/Library/Application\ Support/obs-studio/plugins/facebetter.plugin
```

## Sliders are gray and will not move

The filter is not on a source yet. The panel says you need to add a filter before the controls can be used. Right-click the source → Filters → + → Facebetter Beauty. You can still click the page titles to see what is there. The sliders unlock after the filter is added. See [Sign in and add the filter](/obs/login).

## The filter is added, but the preview does not change

Check that the switch at the top of the panel is on, and that the source menu is the source you are looking at. If every slider is at 0, the picture looks like the original. Body effects need more of the person in frame. A face-only shot barely changes. What each page does is in [Adjust effects](/obs/effects).
